“They say misery loves company
We could start a company
And make misery, Frustrated Incorporated”

Winter is making itself felt in my part of the world. If you don’t know the country in which I live, please feel free to IM me in world 🙂

Sometimes I think that misery comes to haunt me each winter because I’m jinxed. So, this year i am determined to banish all sorts of misery from both my physical and virtual lives.

Misery Loves Company

So, I’m surrounding myself with brilliant colours, wonderful people, innovative projects. This dress from JE Republic is a good start

Misery Loves Company

A trip to Shade Throne to see the talent of Undo Hermano did wonders in lifting me from a miserable state of mind

Misery Loves Company

Perfect for edgy, quirky and innovative design of sunglasses and jewellery

Misery Loves Company

My next stop was right next door to Shade Throne in the Judith sim, JE Republic. A perfect dress, Danse Macabre in purple, and for mix and match I am wearing the glitter bodysuit in red. I have mixed this with Chiffon skirt from SMS

Misery Loves Company

And! Today’s Wonder Find, new release shoes from Zaara : Ilaida Mojri – I chose a small pack to mic with my favourite colours. These are just precious, beautifully made and textured

Forever after happily making misery

ANZAC

Today in my part of the world, it is ANZAC Day. Every year this falls on the same day, 25th April.

This Day of Remembrance is held by Australians and New Zealanders alike, and as an Australian living in New Zealand, I cannot help but feel blessed to be to be a part of our world and part of two cultures united by history.

This Day commemmorates those members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought so long ago and so far from home at Gallipoli in Turkey during World War I. In more recent years, it also honours service men and women who died and served for their country. This is a rare instance of two sovereign countries not only sharing the same remembrance day, but making reference to both countries in its name.

This day holds great significance in both countries, and is marked historically as the ‘coming of age’ of both Australia and New Zealand all those years ago. Everywhere around the world where Australians or New Zealanders gather, you will find a commemmoration held today. Indeed, many villages and towns across Europe also remember our ANZACS for the selfless service during 2 World Wars.

At the Kemal AtatĂĽrk Memorial, ANZAC Parade, Canberra you will find this inscription, written by Kemnal AtatĂĽrk, the first President of modern Turkey in 1934, as tribute to the ANZACs killed at Gallipoli:

“Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives… You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side now here in this country of ours… you, the mothers, who sent their sons from faraway countries wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land, They have become our sons as well.”

It is that time of year, the RFL Clothing Fair comes around again. This year however, for me it is different.

This is the first time I have attended in any capacity other than shopper. Since commencing my blog in May last year, I have found the world of designers, creators, builders, bloggers and the vast community these groups of people encompass. It has been a wild ride, but definitely worth it!

Relay For Life raises funds for the American Cancer Society, an organisation constantly researching for a cure for the numerous forms of cancer. This insidious disease has effected so many of us – there are few people alive today that can say they have never known anyone to suffer some form of cancer. For myself, this disease effected myself and family with the death of my husband at the young age of 34, from an especially vicious form of cancer that remains incurable still.

I live in a tiny country with only 4 million population. New Zealand has a very small pool of people from which to entice charity dollars, so why do I donate my hard earned cash to an American charity? Because, research done by the American Cancer Society benefits so many people around the world – I know that doctors and researchers from New Zealand travel to the US for training, research, learning new skills, developing techniques, and offering the results of their own research. And then they bring this knowledge home. The same happens in very many countries.

So, I can only encourage you too to attend the RFL CLothing Fair and spend or donate generously. Come and join the spirited community that has developed, and enrich us with yourself!

In honour of my birth country, I am making my first post from stores on the Melbourne sim. It is truly beautifully developed and built, and makes me just a wee bit homesick….

This satellite image shows the Mertz Glacier, the two rifts and the massive iceberg which hit the glacier, breaking off the iceberg. (Australian Antarctic Division) About 3 weeks ago.

With an area of more than 2,500 square kilometres, the iceberg holds enough fresh water to supply all of the earth’s human needs for a year. It broke off the Mertz Tongue Glacier two weeks ago. It is in an area of the Antarctic with extremely cold, salty water, which drives global ocean circulation.

From a rugged field far away, i hear the gentle baaaaaaaing of sheep, calling me back to a place I know…

I Hear the Sheep Call My Name

The two has become three! Empress & Hierophant has gained a sister sim, Inis Caiseal

I fly to the sheep, and land at their feet, hitting the ground running. They appear to be only slightly peeved

I Hear the Sheep Call My Name

I Hear the Sheep Call My Name

We talk and talk, about changes that have ocurred and those that are yet to come. We talk as the sun goes down and day changes to night. Quoting directly from the creators, I am told

“I want to share the direction I am going in my builds because I welcome feedback directly. In the future I plan on adding a country pub, alongside a historical castle which I will use as my retail storefront. I plan on specialising in prefabs and building in a rustic country manner. The pub will likely be called “Three Sheeps to the Wynd”. This is mainly because I love the sheep and want them to have a humourous presence on the sim as they have on Empress. Haggis is not served in the pub.

Alchemy and I also want to sponser celtic folk artists in the future in the pub and in the centre of the new standing stone ring on Inis Caiseal. We’re interested in traditional session style events. If you can play fiddle, tin whistle, bodhran, and/or sing traditional folk songs please contact AlchemyImmortalis Cyannis. That is our joint business account and by archiving business related notecards and IMs there, it helps us organise better. Thank you”

I Hear the Sheep Call My Name

I receive quite a lecture from the Grand Dame sheep because of my infrequent visits in recent times, however I promise this will change

I Hear the Sheep Call My Name

she gently reminds me of the beauty here

I Hear the Sheep Call My Name

There’s nothing quite like a remote cottage upon sunset

I Hear the Sheep Call My Name

I am forgiven by all the sheep concerned, and bid a fond farewell, with a promise to return soooon

This past few days after the disastrous earthquake in Haiti, we have seen a flood of people scrambling to donate money to Red cross to alleviate the pain and terrible suffering they have seen in the media.

We, as residents of this amazing virtual world of Secondlife, have united to raise as much as we can for this cause. This follows the overwhelming support given to my fellow Australians just on a year ago, when my country suffered devastation due to unruly nature. I would encourage everyone to donate/purchase whatever they can.

It was with pleasure I received an announcement that Brutus Martinek from Pididdle has placed an item for sale at the area so kindly donated by Radio Signals to make buying easier. Radio and Barb have made a monumental effort with this particular fundraising event.

I won’t swamp you with the many, many other items available on the grid for this fundraiser, these have already been blogged beautifully by many other talented people. I will show you just this…
